Divided State: Local vets diverge on Trump, Clinton | Divided State

Scott Pohl talks with Jim DeWitt, a Trump supporter in Dimondale. Peter Whorf talks with Eric Stinson of Okemos, who is backing Clinton. Both men are veterans.

Jim DeWitt is a veteran with 24 years of service behind him. He says he supports Donald Trump because he likes Trump's views on the military, and the country needs to help veterans out.

Eric Stinson is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Vietnam. He takes issue with Trump's criticism of Sen. John McCain for being shot down during the Vietnam conflict and of the 'Gold Star" parents who appeared at the Democratic National Convention.

WKAR Divided State features are a Michigan companion to the Divided States stories heard on NPR's Morning Edition

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
