New projects generate community discussion in Lansing's Genesee neighborhood

Two planned projects In Lansing’s Genesee neighborhood have triggered a forward-looking discussion among residents and business people there.   Earlier this year, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the non-profit Zero Day announced plans for new offices and facilities on Butler Street, which runs less than a half mile near the Capitol.

The organizations reached out to area residents and businesses for input on what they want out of the area.  A group calling itself the Butler Corridor Coalition was the result, and it held its first meeting on May 11.

Two leaders of the coalition, Rory Neuner, who works for the Westside Commercial Association, and Karole White, president/CEO of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, discuss the plans.
