The Soil And The Sun brings 'New Mexican Space Music' to Common Ground Friday

Courtesy/Common Ground Music Festival

The band The Soil And The Sun identifies itself as “corn-fed, Michigan-made.”  They describe their music as "Experiential Spiritual Orchestral Rock."

The group's thickly layered sound reflects on the "big questions" posed in many of the band's lyrics: what is the nature of God?  Why are we here? How should we live?

The Soil And The Sun performs Friday at Common Ground in Lansing. WKAR's Peter Whorf spoke with bassist Michael Newsted this week about the group's music and their current summer tour.
