Former Spartan opens HopCat bar in East Lansing

Flickr/cheongwah2002

No Lansing area bar has generated a buzz lately like the HopCat in East Lansing. Lines have been common since its opening just over a week ago at Grove and Albert in downtown East Lansing.

The road to becoming a successful craft beer entrepreneur and bar owner has been an interesting and circuitous one for HopCat owner Mark Sellers.  He dropped out of Michigan State to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston and pursued a career in music. But he returned to MSU later and graduated with a degree in accounting. He called in to Current State studios to discuss HopCat and his other businesses in Michigan.
