Scott Pohl/WKAR

Our Election 2013 coverage continues today with a look at the race for mayor in Lansing. Virg Bernero was first elected mayor in 2005. He was re-elected in 2009, and he’s now running for a third term.In 2010, he was the Democratic Party nominee for governor, a race he lost to Rick Snyder.

He touts a record of balancing budgets without raising taxes.

In the August primary, he got almost 67% of the vote, and on November 5th, he’s up against former council member Harold Leeman Jr. in the mayor’s race. Leeman will appear on Current State on Friday.
