Neighbors in Action: Greater Lansing Food Bank

http://www.greaterlansingfoodbank.org/

It’s Wednesday and time for our Neighbors in Action segment, where we feature people and organizations working to make our community a better place. On this day before Thanksgiving we feature the Greater Lansing Food Bank. For many years Lansing had two food banks, but eight years of discussions led to a merger last year.

Executive director Joe Wald says their garden project has been helping people set up neighborhood gardens where healthy foods are grown. Excess food from the gardens goes to the Food Bank for distribution.

We could always use more nominations and we know there are great people and organizations out there that are doing excellent work and we just don’t know about them. Please help us out and send us an email about these great non-profits in the area to Currentstate@wkar.org. Put “Neighbors in Action” in the subject line and tell us why you think they should be featured for the great work they do.
