ScrapFest artists display creativity, enthusiasm in Old Town

Courtest Old Town ScrapFest

The Old Town ScrapFest returns this weekend. Artists will get creative with all sorts of unwanted scrap metal and plastic.

Take hundreds of pounds of unwanted scrap metal and plastic, and let creative people have at it. What do you get? You get what organizers call “one of Michigan’s coolest and greenest festivals,” Old Town Scrapfest. For the seventh year, artists, welders and craftspeople from around Michigan will unveil their recycled and upcycled creations in Old Town Lansing.

The event this Friday and Saturday will also feature live music, family activities, a beer tent, an auction and more.

Current State speaks with Austin Ashley, executive director of the Old Town Commercial Association, about Old Town ScrapFest.
