ArtPrize draws hundreds of works, thousands of visitors to GR

Fifteen-hundred works of art. One-hundred-sixty venues. ArtPrize is back in Grand Rapids starting Wednesday. Current State’s Scott Pohl talks with ArtPrize Exhibitions Director Kevin Buist.

This week, the seventh ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids gets underway. The event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to Grand Rapids every year to see works from all over the world, and those visitors have a say in who wins the prize money.  As long as you’re willing to brave the crowds, you’ll certainly see some beautiful and some challenging works.

Current State’s Scott Pohl talks with Exhibitions Director Kevin Buist about the explosive growth of ArtPrize.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
