On today's "Current Sports with Al Martin" Kalamazoo native Derek Jeter was back at the ballpark this weekend, and the former New York Yankees' slugger is now permanently a part of baseball folklore. Jeter had his jersey retired by the Yankees to hang next to some of the greatest ever, and Al remembers the career and contributions of Jeter. To make it complete, he throws in some pop culture, as well. Then, Brian Calloway, prep sports writer for the Lansing State Journal, comes on the show to preview the historic Softball Classic. The softball theme continues to the college landscape. Al and engineer Isaac Constans mix it up about the Detroit Tigers, too, and provide some early season takeaways--including about the closer position. A new voice is welcomed to the show, as well, when Current Sports intern Carina Garcia introduces herself. Finally, 'Weekend Winners' rounds out the hour.
