Physician examines doctor-patient communication

Flickr - Mercy Health

Now that the Affordable Care Act has more or less settled into place, people may be in the position of choosing new doctors for themselves. A recent book by Dr. Leana Wen looks at ways to improve communication between doctors and patients.Wen is the author of “When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests.” She is a former Rhodes Scholar and received her training at the University of Oxford and Brigham & Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

She told Current State’s Melissa Benmark that when she started out a spring book tour, she had no idea that it would turn from a “speaking tour” to what she says is a “listening tour.”
