Six months in, Lansing homeless clinic reduces ER visits

Back in March, we told you on this program about a new venture between Sparrow Health System and Volunteers of America Michigan. That project was the creation of a new medical clinic near downtown Lansing to meet the needs of the region’s homeless population. It’s been six months since the clinic first opened its doors, and Current State’s Kevin Lavery felt the place was due for a check-up. He reports that officials from both Sparrow and VOA say they’re very pleased with what’s happening so far at the clinic.

Kevin Lavery served as a general assignment reporter and occasional local host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered before retiring in 2023.
