On the 40th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Current State tours the Michigan State Museum's photo exhibit 'Iron Hulls,' which explores the life of Great Lakes sailors.
Mention the SS Edmund Fitzgerald to just about any Michigander of a certain age, and they’ll remember the ore carrier ship which sank in a Lake Superior storm 40 years ago today. It took the lives of 29 men.

The Fitzgerald, the Henry B. Smith, the Daniel Morrell are among the hundreds of shipwrecks at the bottom of the Great Lakes. Now, a new multi-media exhibit at the Michigan State University Museum looks at the perils that faced both sailors and dock workers on the inland seas.

Current State's Peter Whorf takes us on a tour of "Iron Hulls and Turbulent Waters" with MSU associate professor John Beck.
