Ernest Green (L) of the Little Rock Nine, with host Mark Bashore.

We have part two of Current State's conversation with civil rights activist Ernest Green today.

Last week, you heard from Ernest Green, an MSU alum and one of the Little Rock Nine. Those were the students who faced violent protests and Arkansas National Guard soldiers when they tried to integrate Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

After a tense senior year, Green became the first African American to graduate Central High School, and he told us that he accepted his diploma with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. sitting next to his parents in the crowd. The 17-year old then moved to New York and spent his summer in jazz clubs listening to the likes of Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk.

Today, we have the second part of our interview with Ernest Green.
