Sparrow Hospital Moves Donation Collection Site

Sparrow Hospital in Lansing is moving its collection site for donations of supplies like gloves, masks and sanitizing wipes on Monday.

So far, more than a quarter-million items have been donated to Sparrow Hospital to bolster their COVID-19 related needs. Michelle Reynaert, vice president of the Sparrow Foundation, says disinfecting wipes are their biggest need, especially for the discharge kits they’re sending home with COVID patients. “We would like to include tubs of wipes in those kits that we are truly stretched on just even having the amount that we need at the hospital and for all of our other basics to be covered,” Reynaert states.

Reynaert says the process is safe and easy. "We have people who have pulled up, opened up their trunk, pulled out their items, set them right there next to the sign, and drive away," she explains. "If you’d like to bring it in, you’ll be greeted by a caregiver who is fully outfitted in PPE (personal protective equipment), with a mask, with gloves.”

Starting Monday, donations can be dropped off at the Sparrow Medical Arts Building on East Michigan Avenue instead of their previous donation site at the former Lansing Eastern High School nearby. They accept donations Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
