One of the first women in the country to get a radio operating license was born and raised right here in mid-Michigan. In celebration of America 250, WKAR got her back into the studio — and in front of a microphone — for a walk down memory lane.

There will be one chance to get some fresh air as winds roll in from the Chicago area and thin the smoke before it returns with a storm system Saturday.

Childcare facilities — like school programs and local daycares — that remain open are still shutting their doors and keeping kids inside to protect them from the hazardous conditions.

No new data center development proposals will be considered by the Lansing City Council until Jan. 25, 2027.
