Mayor-Elect Andy Schor celebrates his election victory with his family Tuesday night.

The city of Lansing elected State Representative Andy Schor as its next mayor.

Schor defeated councilwoman Judi Brown Clarke 72-to-28 percent.

Both are Democratic candidates.

Schor will succeed three term mayor Virg Bernero who first took office in 2005.  Schor said he’s ready to turn his campaign promises into policies.

“These are real issues that I’m excited to work on now," said Schor. "Our neighborhoods, our economic development and jobs, our infrastructure and roads, our education, our safety.  These are all things that are real that we’re going to work on.”

Former Lansing school board president Peter Spadafore was elected at-large to the Lansing City Council.  Incumbent Kathie Dunbar won her re-election bid.  They’ll be joined by Jeremy Garza in the second ward and Brian T. Jackson in the fourth ward.

In February, Virg Bernero announced he would not run for another term after serving 12-years as mayor.
