Sen. John McCain

Michigan politicians from both sides of the aisle remembered US Senator John McCain, who passed away after a long fight with cancer on Saturday.

From US Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan)

John McCain was a true American hero. He served our country bravely on the battlefield and in public service. His independent spirit and his dedication to doing what is right will be greatly missed. My prayers are with Cindy and the McCain family during this very difficult time.

From US Sen. Gary Peters (D-Michigan)

John McCain was an American hero, a dedicated public servant and a true statesman. John’s love for America and our ideals were present in everything he did. His passing is an incredible loss for the U.S. Senate & the entire nation. My thoughts are with Cindy & the McCain family.

With strength and humility, John McCain showed us all what it means to be a true public servant. For generations to come, he will be a role model for others who seek to live a principled and courageous life.
