In the latest development in the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, two former Michigan State University officials were in court today.

Former Dean of MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine William Strampel was in Ingham County circuit court to receive his sentencing on crimes he committed in relation to the Nassar case as well as his own crimes of sexual misconduct.

Ex-MSU gymnastics coach Kathie Klages was in the same courtroom in an attempt to have a felony charge of lying to law enforcement during the investigation into Nassar thrown out.

Capital Correspondent Cheyna Roth was at the Ingham County Circuit Court Wednesday morning and gave us the latest on both cases.

Karel Vega served as radio news managing editor at WKAR from 2020 to 2023.
Before becoming the newest Capitol reporter for Michigan Public Radio Network, Cheyna Roth was an attorney. She spent her days fighting it out in court as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Ionia County.
