Young rock musicians get their shot on stage

theoutervibe.com

Traditionally, garages are the starting spot for budding rock stars, but for the last five years, the Michigan State University Community Music School has offered an alternative. Rock Camp is a chance for students to learn all the positions of a rock band including how to book, promote, and play from members of the band The Outer Vibe. This year, eight of the young bands from the camp will get the chance to play on stage at the Common Ground Music Festival alongside their rock star instructors. Current State’s Scott Pohl visited the opening day of Rock Camp to hear how the kids are doing, and to talk with Lisa Kacos and Jeff Brems of The Outer Vibe.
