Scientists inch closer to harnessing energy from nuclear fusion

Achieving nuclear fusion has proven to be elusive for generations of scientists. According to the BBC, American scientists have brought us one step closer to nuclear fusion's becoming a viable source of clean energy.Michigan State University Distinguished Professor of Physics Wolfgang Bauer has a dual appointment at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at MSU. While the result last month at the National Ignition Facility in California is a significant milestone, he says that the day nuclear fusion will produce limitless and clean nuclear energy is still decades away.
