Clay’s voice is recognizable at MSU football and hockey games, booming through after plays, touchdowns, and goals.

Resurfacing the ice at Munn Ice Arena is an ongoing job, thanks to its continuous usage by MSU hockey, the men’s and women’s club teams, figure skating and other events. Driving the Zamboni was usually a men’s job - until now.

Gilbert transferred to MSU in 2023, and planned to stop playing varsity hockey. But he decided to send a few emails to MSU hockey, to see if they needed a back-up goalie. Funny thing is, the best team in college hockey answered back - yes. The rest is history.

They’re the crew behind the teams that play hockey at Munn Ice Area, making sure the playing surface is clean, repaired, and prepared for play. And they’re OK with the public not noticing how hard they work, because the ice shows off their dedication.

A lot of people, wins, losses, joy and pain have happened at Munn since it opened its doors in 1974.

The Munnsters, the dedicated student fans of MSU Hockey, are as hot as the team right now.
