Michigan State football kicked off week five of the college football season on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Central Michigan to Spartan Stadium. MSU came into this game ranked No.21, looking to build on a 35-21 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington last week. Meanwhile the Chippewas tried get their season back on track after a 1-3 start.

Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo spoke at the Breslin Center during the first practice for the Spartans. Izzo is embarking on his 36th year at MSU, 24th as head coach of the program.

Michigan State Univeritiy Interim President John Engler announced the appointment of Bill Beekman as MSU's athletic director on Monday morning. Beekman took over for Mark Hollis back in February, after Hollis stepped down in light of the Larry Nassar scandal. Beekman will now oversee MSU's 25 varsity sports teams and will relinquish his position as secretary fo the Board of Trustees.

Tonight's "Current Sports with Al Martin" 2 Minute Drill brings you postgame coverage from tonight's Michigan State men's basketball win over Penn State. It took a 52 point, comeback effort in the second half to get the dub. However, all of the attention was, yet again, focused on Spartans head coach Tom Izzo and his response to the ESPN "E:60" report, which calls into question the program's integrity.

The Big Ten Network will triple its prime-time national TV exposure during football season and add more basketball games in the time slot, thanks to new deals with broadcast partners FOX, ABC/ESPN and CBS.

Harris leads Spartans to third straight win

Senior guard Eron Harris tallied 20 points for the MSU men's basketball team in a win over Tennessee Tech Saturday afternoon, 71 to 63 the final. Freshman Joshua Langford and Nick Ward followed the lead of Harris, each chipping in 10 points in the third straight victory for the Spartans. Sophomore guard Matt McQuaid sat out due to a head injury suffered in practice this week.
