FLINT, MI – The University of Michigan-Flint says it's responding to a shortage of physical therapists by increasing the number of students in its training program by 50%.
The university says it will accept 60 students into its doctor in physical therapy program in fall 2010, up from 40 this year.
The school says a 2008 American Physical Therapy Association report found vacancy rates for physical therapy jobs from 13% to 19%.
Students entering the three-year program need to have a bachelor's degree and meet other requirements.
