Storytellers from WKAR Public Media and the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University have been honored with five regional Emmy® awards by the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

EAST LANSING, MI; May 16, 2023 – The talented storytellers at WKAR Public Media at Michigan State University have earned 13 Regional Emmy® nominations for their productions.

WKAR has been named Michigan Public Television Station of the Year for 2022 by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. The announcement was made Saturday, April 29, at the Broadcast Excellence Awards Gala at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.

WKAR wins 8 Best in Category, 11 Merit at MAB Broadcast Excellence Awards

WKAR Current Sports Host Al Martin named two recent recipients of the Earle Robinson Student Award on Wednesday, June 22. The winners of the 2022 and 2021 Earle Robinson Student Award are Trent Balley and Luke Sloan. At an award ceremony at WKAR, they were joined by 2019 winner Jack Kirwan.

WKAR Public Media staff have been honored with three regional Emmy® awards by the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

WKAR Public Media at Michigan State University has been honored with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for an investigative report on ballot measures ahead of the November 2021 elections in Michigan.
