Ex-Genesee Treasurer Kildee thinking about gov run

By AP

FLINT, MI –
Former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee says he's considering a run for Michigan governor.

The 51-year-old Democrat writes in an e-mail to The Associated Press that he's "going to give it some thought."

Lt. Gov. John Cherry was seen as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, but announced Tuesday he was dropping out because he was having trouble raising enough money.

Kildee helped create and lead the Genesee County Land Bank starting in 2002 and just recently resigned to head up a national land use nonprofit organization.

He's the nephew of Democratic U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee of Flint.
