Bonderman struggles as Blue Jays beat Tigers 8-5

DUNEDIN, FL – Randy Ruiz hit a grand slam and the Toronto Blue Jays chased Jeremy Bonderman in the first inning of an 8-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.

Bonderman recorded just two outs and was charged with six runs and six hits. Jose Bautista connected for a leadoff homer, Ruiz went deep and Travis Snyder hit Bonderman's 36th and last pitch for a sacrifice fly.

Vernon Wells added a two-run homer in the second for Toronto.

Magglio Ordonez and Ryan Strieby connected for consecutive homers in the first and Johnny Damon had an RBI single in the second for Detroit.

Blue Jays left-hander Brian Tallet allowed four runs and four hits in two innings.
