The two candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in the Michigan governor's race are scheduled to debate in Wixom.

House Speaker Andy Dillon and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero are to square off Monday at the WTVS television studios in the Detroit suburb. The one-hour event begins at 7 pm.

The debate will be taped and aired on WKAR-TV Wednesday evening at 8pm. It will also air on other public broadcasting outlets.

Dillon and Bernero are among the candidates seeking to replace Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who is forced to leave office at the end of this year because of term limits.

The Republicans running for governor are Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Attorney General Mike Cox, state Sen. Tom George, U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra and businessman Rick Snyder.

The primary is Aug. 3.
