Local poet explores sights, sounds of Michigan

Scott Pohl/WKAR

Poetry, art, and Michigan. All have inspired local writer and artist Jeanne Van Wieren. The Williamston Enterprise columnist has published a book of her art and poetry called “This Mitten Is Tightly Knit”.

Van Wieren says she started writing poetry in her journal at least 20 years ago, especially poems with a Christmas theme she would include in her seasonal greeting cards.

A friend's nudging prompted her to combine her talents for painting and poetry into a book.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
