EL considers special fee to foster public art

Scott Pohl/WKAR

The city of East Lansing bills itself as the "City of the Arts." City officials are considering a measure that some say could strengthen that image. On Wednesday, the city council is expected to take up a proposal dubbed the "Percent for Art."It would require that one-percent of the total cost of a new development go toward public art.

East Lansing Mayor Nathan Triplett is a supporter. Current State talks with him about the plan, and also  gets his take on Proposal One in tomorrow’s primary.
