Charlotte-based Spartan Motors Will Build New Cargo Vehicles for Post Office

A mid-Michigan vehicle design company has landed its largest contract to date. 

Charlotte-based Spartan Motors said its has signed a $214 million deal to build more than 2,000 cargo vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service.

The company will build two truck body styles for the federal agency starting next spring.

The contract is for two years, with an option for a third year.

In June, Spartan Motors opened a new plant in Charlotte to build Isuzu trucks.
