It’s Wednesday and time for our Neighbors in Action segment, where we feature people and organizations working to make our community a better place. Today we feature 2020 Girls, a Lansing-based program that aims to grow the next generation of professional women in the STEM fields by introducing young girls to the wonders of robotics, game design, and more.Representatives from the two key coordinating organizations on the project tell Current State more about the program. Kirk Riley is the Executive Director of the Lansing-based Information Technology Empowerment Center, and Michelle Jennings is the Mid-Michigan K-12 Chairperson at the Michigan Council of Women in Technology. Katherine Vanzwoll, whose daughter participates in the 2020 Girls program, also tells us about her family's experience with the program.
