Ex-MSU gymnastics coach Kathie Klages (right) appears in court.

An ex-Michigan State University gymnastics coach will go to trial for felony and misdemeanor charges of lying to law enforcement. On Wednesday, a judge denied Kathie Klages’s motion to have her felony charge thrown out.

This is just part of an investigation into how former M-S-U sports doctor Larry Nassar was able to sexually assault his young patients for decades.

Klages is accused of lying to law enforcement about gymnasts coming to her and disclosing that Nassar did things to them that made them uncomfortable.

Two women who were teenagers in 1997 say they reported Nassar to Klages, but she did nothing.

Before becoming the newest Capitol reporter for Michigan Public Radio Network, Cheyna Roth was an attorney. She spent her days fighting it out in court as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Ionia County.
