A third person is expected to announce his intentions to run for mayor of Lansing on Thursday morning. Harold Leeman, Jr. also faces a court date in late April.
A felony charge of embezzlement will not keep a former Lansing city council president from running for mayor.
Harold Leeman, Jr. is expected to announce his candidacy for mayor on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Corey's Lounge on Cedar Street in Lansing.
The 59-year-old plans to take on State Representative Andy Schor and Council member Judi Brown Clarke. Both have already filed plans to run.
Leeman, Jr. faces one charge of embezzlement related to work at a concession stand at a Lansing park. He will be in court on April 20.
Leeman, Jr. told the Lansing State Journal, the charge will not impact his political ambitions.
Lansing's primary election will be August 8.
