DETROIT – Detroit Symphony Orchestra music director Leonard Slatkin will be taking some more time away from the podium.
The 65-year-old conductor has been sidelined since suffering a heart attack on Nov. 1.
He had been expected to lead the DSO in concerts from Dec. 10 to 13, but after consulting with his doctors has chosen to take additional time for rest.
Slatkin's next scheduled appearance with the orchestra is Jan. 14 through 17.
Conductor Andrew Litton will replace him for the December concerts.
Denise Pineau is vice president at Columbia Artists Management.
She tells the Detroit Free Press for a story Wednesday it's possible Slatkin could return to the podium in December, but outside of Detroit.
His Web site lists a performance in Moscow on Dec. 22.
