LANSING, MI –

Lansing fire fighters have tentatively agreed to a deal that would save the city $1.5-million.

AUDIO: Members of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 421 will vote on the agreement by the end of next week. If approved, it would help the city address an expected deficit of $12-million in the coming fiscal year.

The city council would also have to approve the contract.

Under the agreement, Fire Station #3 in downtown Lansing would be permanently closed. The station was closed for a time in 2008 because of structural concerns.

The new contract includes changes to health insurance benefits and a reduction in minimum staffing. Details are not being released pending the ratification vote.
