LANSING, MI –

Republicans in the state Senate have again rejected a round of appointments by Governor Granholm to state boards and commissions.

AUDIO:
The Senate rejected 21 appointments by the governor to various boards, including Northern Michigan University, and Grand Valley State University boards, and the Natural Resources Commission, among others.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop says those appointments should be up to the next governor - and he's consulted with GOP nominee Rick Snyder.

"I've been in contact with Rick Snyder to see if there are any of those that he would be agreeable with," he says. "I'm trying to work out some sort of arrangement where we can decide what's best for the future of the state and for the next administration."

Bishop says he has not spoken with Democratic nominee Virg Bernero about the appointments.

Governor Granholm says she is still in charge and is acting within her constitutional authority.
