New Mich. budget director earning $250,000

By AP

LANSING, MI –
John Nixon is making $250,000 as Michigan's new state budget director, but he's taking on two jobs.

Nixon also will be heading the Department of Technology, Management and Budget. His salary is less than the combined salaries of the former budget and TMB directors.

According to salary figures released Friday by Gov. Rick Snyder's press office, few department directors are making more than their predecessors under Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

Agriculture and Rural Affairs director Keith Creagh and Environmental Quality director Dan Wyant will earn $5,000 more than their predecessors. Transportation director Kirk Steudle is getting a $5,000 raise.

Former state Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan will make $10,000 less as Human Services director than former director Ismael Ahmed.

Michigan Economic Development Corp. CEO Michael Finney is being paid $250,000.
