Mandolinist Chris Thile performs in Kalamazoo on Friday night. Thile talks with Current State’s Scott Pohl about his music and his next big project: replacing Garrison Keillor next year on “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Mandolinist Chris Thile has an impressive resume. His solo and collaborative concerts and recordings have earned him four Grammy awards and a MacArthur grant. On Friday night, he has a concert at Western Michigan University.

Current State’s Scott Pohl recently talked with Chris Thile about his career and an exciting new project he has coming up in 2016: he'll take over as host of “A Prairie Home Companion” when Garrison Keillor steps down.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
