Lansing musicians produce spoken word project

A new recording project features Lansing artists working in the realm of spoken word music. Scott Pohl talks with Tyler Jenson, the musician responsible for “Speak Life: The Spoken Word Collection Vol. 1,” and one of the artists, Twyla Birdsong.

Spoken word music occupies the space between rhythm and blues and hip hop. It can convey a mood and a message in ways that other genres can’t.

A new recording project unites the talents of Lansing musicians in a spoken word offering called “Speak Life: The Spoken Word Collection Volume One.”

Current State's Scott Pohl talks with producer Tyler Jenson and one of the artists involved, Twyla Birdsong.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
