Lansing exhibit explores the noteworthy art of album covers

Album covers used to get almost as much attention as the music inside. The Keys to Creativity gallery in the Lansing Mall marks the “Golden Age of Album Art” from 1967 to ‘83 with an exhibit through October 6th. Current State’s Scott Pohl has a look.

The earliest album covers were simple, mostly portraits of the bands with conventional lettering styles. But in the mid 1960’s, that started to change. At the Keys to Creativity gallery in the Lansing Mall, you can see an exhibit of iconic album covers from that era through October 6th.

Current State’s Scott Pohl talks with gallery owner Larry Grudt and Doug Sjoquist, curator of the “Golden Age of Album Art” exhibition.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
