Okemos' Laya Hartman Taking Hoops World by Storm

Laya Hartman is only a freshman, but is a standout on the varsity girl's basketball team at Okemos High School.

The Okemos varsity girls basketball team gained a new leader this season, in the form of freshman star point guard Laya Hartman. She is only 14, but is already averaging 19 points per game against older and more experienced players.

Hartman is hotly recruited by top universities, having already received Division 1 scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Villanova, Oregon, Purdue, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
 
Hartman and her family keeping a disciplined outlook for her future, keeping basketball and school in perspective.
