Michigan State University has named a new Chief Compliance Officer. Nicholas Wittner, a professor of law in residence at the MSU College of Law, was appointed by interim President John Engler to lead the Office of Enterprise Risk Management, Ethics and Compliance.

In that role, Wittner will promote an ethical culture and legal compliance on campus.

Wittner has an undergraduate degree from MSU and a law degree from Wayne State University. He previously spent 20 years with Nissan’s legal department and also served as a trustee of St. Joseph Health System of California. He will report directly to the president and, through the new Committee on Audit, Risk and Compliance, to the MSU Board of Trustees.

The appointment takes effect immediately.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
