Family Fun at PBS Kids Day 2020

The 4th annual PBS Kids Day at WKAR drew more than 1100 visitors for family fun with Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dr. Rob and the Curious Crew, and explorations with community partners.

The WKAR Family event took place January 25, 2020, at WKAR studios on the campus of Michigan State University.

The day featured kids hands-on activities with over 15 partners, including Capital Area District Library, Potter Park Zoo, Abrams Planetarium and more. Kids got to pet an owl, build a bridge, make art and pose for photos with everyone’s favorite big red dog.

“It’s great to see so many of our community families here at our studios for PBS Kids Day! These types of events speak directly to our mission to serve the families of the Lansing area with free fun and resources,” said Susi Elkins, WKAR general manager and director of Broadcasting.

Along with The Green Screen Experience, trying on Forest Fire Service uniforms, petting a snake, and making copier collages, WKAR also hosted a Prize Giveaway. Prizes included five PBS Kids Playtime Pads and tickets to kid-friendly shows at the Wharton Center.

WKAR PBS Kids Day is part of the WKAR Family initiative, supported by Michigan State University Federal Credit Union.
