WKAR News is expanding its political and government reporting in mid-Michigan with the addition of Abigail Censky.

WKAR welcomed Steve Drummond, Senior Education Editor for NPR News and Executive Producer of the podcast Code Switch. During his visit, Drummond offered valuable insight and great feedback for the WKAR News team and MSU journalism students.

During the 2018 MSU Homecoming festivities, WKAR hosted a special film screening of The Road to Little Rock and a one-on-one conversation with Grand Marshal Ernest Green and Prabu David, MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences dean.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Through twelve days in September, listeners of WKAR Radio combined efforts with Michigan Education Trust (MET) to provide more than 600 books to capital region children in need.

EAST LANSING, MI; June 5, 2018​ -- WKAR Public Media announced today that WKAR-TV is now broadcasting on a new frequency, as required by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Viewers who receive television free, over the air using an antenna, need to rescan their TV tuners to continue watching the PBS-affiliated station from Michigan State University.

The WKAR original classical music series MSU in Concert can now be heard by music lovers in Michigan's northern lower peninsula! The weekly series featuring Michigan State University concert performances now airs Fridays at 6 p.m. on Classical Interlochen Public Radio (IPR).

More than 1,000 Lansing School District kindergartners now have a PBS KIDS Playtime Pad! The final deliveries were made on Wednesday, December 20 under sunny skies and with hundreds of smiling, excited kindergartners seated on colored carpet squares.

A new, fun, engaging way for kindergartners to learn math and for researchers to explore how students learn launched this week in the Lansing School District.

On Monday, Nov. 13, kindergartners at Lansing's Kendon Elementary School each received a PBS KIDS Playtime Pad loaded with educational games.
