The beloved Copper Beech Tree at the heart of the Healing Gardens is turning 80 years old this year! Join us to celebrate this magnificent octogenarian tree while the gardens are in full bloom on Friday, June 5th from 3-7 PM. This is a free, public event for all ages.We will have live music in the rose garden, family-friendly games and activities, and of course birthday cake! Live music performed by local artists Drew Howard, Monte Pride, and The Shellouts. Raffle items, plant sales, and so much more! The Packard Farmers Market returns for the 2026 season at the historic Packard Proving Grounds, bringing together local farmers, artisans, bakers, makers, and small businesses in a one-of-a-kind setting where history and community meet.
Formerly known as the Shelby Farmers Market, the newly rebranded Packard Farmers Market reflects its deep connection to the Packard Proving Grounds and its mission to support the preservation of this iconic historic site. The market runs Saturdays from May 16 through October 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the expansive front lawn of the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site.
Each week, the market is arranged in neat rows across the lawn, offering a relaxed, walkable shopping experience. Vendors may park directly next to their booths, and the grass setting provides a cooler summer atmosphere ideal for tent setups. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. The market is supported by Packard Proving Grounds volunteers and local high school students earning community service hours.
The Packard Farmers Market is open on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and will be closed Saturday, July 4. Proceeds from the market directly benefit the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site, owned and operated by the Packard Motor Car Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Williamston Figure Study is an annual art course open to students and the public held at Williamston High School. The class provides models for artists to draw in various situations, settings, and themes. It's a great opportunity for growth as an artist and a chance to admire the styles and working process of others. 'Literally Figurative' showcases the results of this class. The MSU College of Music and Beal Botanical Garden invite you to this year’s Music and the Garden series, an outdoor celebration of music, nature, and community. This season explores Beal's Rewilding initiative, with each event engaging one of the four classical elements—Air, Water, Fire, and Earth—highlighting Michigan native plants, their ecological roles, and connections to human history, while featuring theme‑inspired performances and opportunities to learn how environmentally sustainable practices can be incorporated into everyday life.
This program highlights the theme of Air, echoing the openness, movement, and sense of connection found throughout the natural world. Hands‑on, family-friendly activities take place prior to the performance. Visitors are welcome to bring chairs or blankets. In case of weather, the performance will move indoors to the MSU Music Building.
