Independent Lens takes on a provocative topic in The House I Live In. Explore the human-rights implications of the country’s least winnable war – the war on drugs.
Consider the statistics: More than 40 years since it began, it is the longest conflict in American history. It has resulted in more than 45 million arrests and made the United States the world’s largest jailer. It has fueled armed conflict overseas, devastated poor communities and disproportionately targeted people of color. And yet, drugs are cheaper, stronger and more plentiful than ever.
The House I Live In explores these issues and the others that occur when drugs begin to take over a community.
