U.S. House Members Ask President Biden To Reopen U.S.-Canada Border

A bipartisan coalition of U.S. House members are asking President Joe Biden to safely reopen the United States – Canada Border.

U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga is one of 75 House members signing a letter to President Joe Biden asking for the safe restoration of travel between the United States and Canada.

“Who is setting the criteria? What is the criteria?”

In mid-June, the Zeeland Republican participated in an AXIOS discussion as Co-Chair of the US-Canada Interparliamentary group.

“We certainly are asking our folks what is the criteria? And it’s going to be hard if it’s different criteria. Canada has one set of criteria and the United States has another set. That’s going to be difficult it would seem to me, but if we can somehow encourage our mutual governments to get together to set common goals.”

Within the bipartisan letter, “Both governments should follow the science and drop all travel restrictions for travelers between the United States and Canada who are fully vaccinated travelers or provide proof of a negative PCR test.”

It also encouraging reestablishing travel between the United States and the United Kingdom.
