Q: How do I help my child settle down, when it’s time to work on lessons?

From Mrs. Pizzo's Workshop

A: Pent up energy is a common problem for all learning environments. Don't forget to include physical activity throughout the day.

We’re all staying home to stay safe which can lead to decreased physical activity. This can result in less focus and motivation during scheduled learning times.

Look for ways to increase physical activity with routine.

Perhaps start each morningwith a brisk walk, after lunch create a fun indoor obstacle course hopping over pillow forts, climbing under chair tunnels and jogging in place.

For a late afternoon activity, enjoy recess with classic outdoor games like Hopscotch, jumpropes, Red Light Green Light or my favorite Mother May I. For older students, try a TikToK dance challenge.
