Lansing, MI – Under the plan, the park would be rebuilt on the east bank of the Grand River at the site of the new City Market. A new cantilevered boardwalk will also be installed on the west bank adjacent to the Ottawa Street Power Station. It's being paid for with a grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Rick Kibbey serves on Lansing's Parks and Recreation's board of directors. He says the renovation is a good example of how an urban parks system can invigorate a local economy. The renovations will include improved paths and seating areas. The sea wall along the river will also be restored. The east side park could open this fall. Construction on the west side could happen a year from now.
