LANSING, MI – The Michigan Supreme court has decided to reconsider a court ruling that prevented car accident victims for suing for pain and suffering.
The court ruling known as Kreiner essentially kept anything short of death or paralysis caused by car accidents out of court. David Christiansen is with the Michigan Association for Justice.
"Kreiner said you have to be much more horribly injured to deserve any compensation than we had ever seen before in Michigan," he said.
Christiansen says the new Supreme Court majority could restore what had been law for decades in Michigan by reversing the effects of the Kreiner case.
Representatives of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce say they aren't surprised the new, more liberal judges are reexamining this case.
